Introduction
Being a Teacher is a great job that allows one to convey wisdom, impart knowledge to those in need, and develop future leaders’ minds at every stage. Teachers are the cornerstones of our lives and are crucial in directing us while we are still students. Teachers are crucial to the development of a nation. Only those with social consciousness and compassion become effective teachers. Teachers make a significant contribution to creating a strong community and a great country.
Teachers are the true representatives of knowledge and wisdom, and they develop and prepare students for the future. They educate both the general public and pupils. They provide light to a world that has become dimmed by ignorance. Our teachers are the actual pillars of our success. They support us in expanding our knowledge, improving our skills, gaining confidence, and choosing the best path for success. However, despite having such a big impact on students’ lives and the growth of the nation, they rarely get the credit they deserve. Therefore, it is our responsibility as students to express our gratitude to them at least once a year, and Teachers’ Day is the perfect occasion to do so!
HISTORY
On this day in 1966, the first World Teachers’ Day, the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted a recommendation about the status of teachers. To address the issue of teaching staff in higher education, the 1997 proposal was added to the 1966 recommendation. This advice provided teachers all around the world with a first-ever instrument that outlines their obligations and claims their rights. All nations came to an understanding of the value of having qualified, educated, and motivated teachers in society after embracing this advice.
India celebrates Teacher’s Day on September 5 every year in memory of former president, academic, philosopher, and Bharat Ratna winner Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on this date in 1888. In 1962, after Radhakrishan was chosen as India’s second president, his students formally asked him to approve the celebration of September 5 as a special day. Dr Radhakrishnan recommends that they honour September 5 as Teacher’s Day to recognise the contributions that teachers make to society.
Why it is celebrated?

He was a well-known academic, the first Vice-President and second President of independent India, and he was awarded the Bharat Ratna. His birthday is September 5, 1888. As an educator, he promoted enlightenment and was a renowned diplomat, academician, and most importantly, a fantastic teacher.
