This is Tapasya / Tapas of New Way High School, Jamshedpur. I am writing this letter to highlight the need and ways to conserve energy in India. India is facing an energy crisis due to the increasing population and the ever-increasing demand for energy. We need to take concrete steps to save energy and ensure that our future generations can live without having to worry about energy shortages. Discouraging the unnecessary use of electric types of equipment, switching off lights, and fans when not in use, using alternative sources like solar energy, avoiding decorative lights and using energy-efficient gadgets are some of the ways to conserve energy. Moreover, we must also promote the use of public transport, carpooling and cycling as these are more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient ways of transport. We must also educate our children about the importance of energy conservation and inculcate in them the habit of turning off the lights and other electrical appliances when not in use. I believe that only if we all come together and take the necessary steps, we can save energy and ensure that our future generations can live in an energy-secure world.
